Job Description

MATCHESFASHION.COM is the global luxury-shopping destination for men and women, bringing together a modern edit of over 400 established and emerging designers. Experience MATCHESFASHION.COM online, in its London stores and at No.23, our private-shopping townhouse. With over 25 years in luxury fashion, we deliver to over 190 countries and offer 24/7 advice through MyStylist, our dedicated fashion-concierge team.

THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a native Korean-speaking Translation Manager to oversee product-page copy for our Korean and Japanese-language website with the help of Japanese Copy Team Lead. Working within the product editorial department, you will lead the Korean and Japanese language teams of product copy sub-editors, ensuring the team is fully supported and achieving daily targets. As well as maintaining the MATCHESFASHION tone, your copy edits will bear in mind specialist knowledge of the Korean market and customer, which you will be able to showcase in cross-departmental initiatives. You will act as one of the main contacts for external translation agency, who is providing the translations, and will oversee Koreanteam output, ensuring the language is clean, clear and precise.

Highly organised and production-minded, you will be responsible for creating and managing a seamless translation workflow, ensuring that all translated copy is subbed and approved in a timely manner and to a high standard. You will also work closely with the rest of the Content team and help support other members of the team where necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Korean-language product copy team, ensuring daily deadlines and targets of around 70 product descriptions per day are set each morning and consistently met.
  • Support Japanese Copy Lead and team of Japanese sub-editors.
  • Conduct yearly reviews for all direct reports and regular catch-up's to make sure your team is supported and performs to their best ability.
  • Plan weekly resourcing based on forecast provided and achieve balance between maximum cost savings and having necessary coverage for your teams.
  • Identify areas where freelance support will be needed and book freelancers.
  • Sub-edit previously translated Korean product descriptions, titles and size and fit details with the highest standards of accuracy (20% of the role)
  • Ensure that all Korean-language product copy reflects the MATCHESFASHION.COM tone of voice, checking accuracy, grammar, consistency and ensuring house style is maintained.
  • Give feedback to Korean sub-editors and the external translation company to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with English-language sub-editors to ensure that any style changes or amendments are aligned across both sites.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular audits across the site.
  • Help to continually develop the team’s brand knowledge and inspire writers with regular feedback, workshops, trainings and trend research.
  • Work with the product technical specialists to ensure all size, fit and care information is communicated in a way that is as clear and concise as possible.
  • Maintain a clear style guide for Korean language.
  • Complete a final check once the product is live, amending if necessary.
  • Support the studio manager, SEO, editorial and marketing team with any ad-hoc requests.
  • Meet daily upload targets and be measured both on volumes and content accuracy and quality.
  • Any other related duties as reasonably requested.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Korean translation manager or editor in chief, preferably in an ecommerce production team.
  • Native Korean speaker, fluent in English.
  • Experience in managing and co-ordinating a deadline-dependant production workflow.
  • Experience in managing a team, including chasing and setting deadlines.
  • Ability to work on CMS, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent written Korean and English with a flair for short, sharp copy.
  • Basic knowledge of advertising standards.
  • A proven ability to work quickly and efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Timekeeping and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of fashion, designers and brands.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
