Position
As we dive deeper into our ethos, our very core, of discovering our inner utopia, MOTI is seeking an experienced Producer who has produced animation shorts either commercially or as a passion project. Our ideal candidate, whom we call Producer of Koan, should already have a hand at writing, directing or producing content in/around philosophical, metaphysical, anthropological, artistic and/or psychedelic topics.
Wait.. what is Koan?
"What is the sound of one hand?"
Koan, mostly associated/used in Zen Buddhism, are riddles, questions or paradoxical anecdotes that demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning hence provoking the understanding of humanity.
As all of MOTI’s content aim to offer perspectives and not enforce beliefs, to question answers and not answer questions, and to experience but not for gains, the notion of Koan transcends any single religion, and is refined as nonsensical or paradoxical questions to anyone for which an answer is required- with the outcome of further meditating on the subject often being enlightenment.
That said, MOTI is inviting applicants from around the world to submit their candidacy for these not-your-typical Producer positions- with the sole mission of producing their unique animated short(s) as part of a bigger series named Koan.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and production of their own unique piece, from ideation to shelf, and ensure each project stays within budget, timeline and other pertinent goals
- Hire, lead and manage the team, including writers, directors, managers, talents, heads of department, key crew, staff, and other personnel
- Set each piece’s budget and, together with management, ensure funds are secured for each project
- Oversee post-production from editing, through music composition and picture lock, ensure the necessary licenses are purchased, and IP protection are in place
- Help market the project and generate buzz by working with the marketing team and/or other relevant stakeholders
Requirements
- Proven experience in producing animated content
- Have developed and/or helped produce actual content in/around philosophical, metaphysical, anthropological, artistic and/or psychedelic topics
- Excellent communication skills and great precision of language. Fluency in English is required, bilingual in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) or another global language is an advantage
- Can attend company meetings during Hong Kong work hours (GMT+8)
- Ability to use system as a service (saas) to manage projects, resources, etc.
- A strong and existing connection with the industry’s relevant stakeholders and/or key personnels
- Deep knowledge with industry standards, methods and inner workings
